Media Bias or Opposition

For many years in my (adult years) lifetime, I have recognized the liberal bias in America. It (the bias) was at best subtle. What use to be hard to call the media out on, exact and specific instances, is now so prevalent that it can’t even be called journalism.

Today I call it, Opposition! This term has been just recently used more and more as to describe all media.

I am not just picking on the New York times or MSNBC but, I include Fox news too.

Nowadays we all have our cable news channel.  We tend to watch the one that prescribes to the way that  we believe.  I too fall under that category as a fan of Fox News, however, I try to give if not equal time as close as I can time, to MSNBC, CNN and others who are not consistent with the way that I feel so that I am able to hear the different sides of the issues.

This election cycle has to be the most bias or one sided election cycle that I have ever seen.  When watching CNN they have three or four liberals against one conservative/Republican.  This is also true of Fox News, for instance, on the cable news show The Five, there are four conservatives or conservative thinkers vs a Juan Williams, as an example Democrat/liberal.  Fox News many years ago had a very popular show called Crossfire.  It was a fair and balanced look at both sides of any issue.  It was my first experience with Fox News and I thought it was fantastic.

But today when we read the newspapers and listen to talk radio or especially stay glued to the cable news channels, it has definitely become more of an opposition channel as opposed to fairly reporting both sides of the news.

I ask that we take the term news out of these programs and just simply call it what it is. Liberal, Conservative My question would be where is true journalism today.  It would be hard to say that Twitter, Instagram or even Facebook would give a fair and accurate account of today’s news.  Even amateur bloggers like myself are only giving you our opinions to a particular narrative or issue.

It appears to me that journalism has fallen very close to the dark side of withholding news or withholding facts to not disclose anything not in line with the narrative they are pushing or supporting.  If we disregard a fair and balanced rule of reporting both sides of the issue, it is not journalism, it is known as “Propaganda”.

Therefore, I would like to see programs stating who they are, what their goals are, their political leanings and be up front and honest with us and advertisers as to what they are really propagating.  I believe that the federal government and the FCC should eliminate any of it’s special concessions given to those who are not fair and balanced, equal time, substantiated with equal fairness.  In some cases Trump is given 10 times the coverage but all negative and 10 percent of the coverage is given to Hillary but all positive or bias leaning.

I do not mention newspapers or radio because I find them less influencing but I think through advertising money as now, we will be able to realize what companies are truly supporting these television shows and cable news outlets as to their bias.  There are many, many points to be made as to this subject, but my frustration overall is simply asking this question:

WHERE HAS JOURNALISM GONE AND WHERE DO I FIND IT?
