Charlie Kirk: Think you know what he really said about Black pilots?

Does the truth actually matter or have you already made up your mind?

So here’s what happened.  Kirk said, “If I see a Black pilot, I hope he’s qualified,” on his January 2024 podcast, reacting to United Airlines push to reach 50 percent women or minority pilots.  Now, he wasn’t saying Black pilots can’t be good.  In fact, he said exactly the opposite.  His concern was about the numbers.  United was 15 to 19 percent minority pilots and suddenly they wanted 50 percent.  Kirk worried that hitting that number meant standards would drop, fewer flight hours, less strict tests.  He said the problem wasn’t race, it was the policy.

When people criticized him, he didn’t back down.  He said that DEI, without careful thought, makes everyone DOUBT merit, because without a quota, you just assume the pilot earned the seat.  Once a quota is there, you ask if race played the biggest role.  That’s the part the short clips left out and that’s why we need to get the full story before we decide.

So, before we celebrate the assassination of a young man, a husband, a father of two and assume he deserved to be killed, let’s make sure we know the facts first.  

Let’s not fall for easy soundbites before we really understand the truth.
